Since the law of 23 July 2016 on the reform of child benefits came into force, the former child benefit fund (CNPF) has been renamed "Caisse pour l'avenir des enfants" (CAE).
Its scope of duties has been expanded and it brings together within a national entity the management and payment of all Luxembourg family benefits, parental leave and the childcare-service voucher for cross-border workers.
The CAE handles some 200,000 cases and has an annual budget of almost EUR 1.4 billion. In 2022, the CAE had 140 employees.
