Back-to-school allowance

The back-to-school allowance is set at EUR 115 for children over 6 years old and at EUR 235 for children over 12 years old. It is paid automatically in August of each year. No application is necessary. To cross-border workers who are entitled to differential supplement, the back-to-school allowance will be included in the supplement covering the period from July until December, which will be paid in January.

Children admitted to the 2nd cycle of basic education (formerly: 1st year of primary school) who have not yet reached the age of six at the time of the start of the school year are entitled to a back-to-school allowance on presentation of a school certificate.

The allowance ceases and is no longer paid in the calendar year in which the secondary education or equivalent ends.
